Rhet's

story

Just after turning 3 years old, Rhet was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma. After completing almost the entire primary treatment plan including multiple chemotherapy drugs and proton radiation, the follow-up scans determined Rhet had relapsed. After switching treatment plans and having only one round of chemo left of the second treatment plan, check-up scans showed another relapse.

We had stepped into the journey with faith, but this season is when what we knew about faith was rocked to the core and completely transformed. In a series of events that were far from what we expected, we allowed the Lord set up a more beautiful story of healing and restoration than we could have ever imaged!

When all the odds were against Rhet's life by every medical account, our God proved He is still in the miracle business! Rhet is healed and healthy. He is truly a walking miracle.

We love to share this inspiring testimony. Whether a church event, youth function or classroom conversation, this family is ready to talk. For booking inquiries, please contact us here.

The Story

of the wagons

In the early days of Rhet's diagnosis, a neighbor and dear friend wheeled a red wagon into Rhet's hospital room. This wagon was overflowing with all of the things we didn't even know we needed. We were in survival mode, as to be expected. In an effort to bring us some comfort and support, this friend ministered to us in a tangible and practical way. It made such a lasting impact! We have expounded upon her gesture to help show our support to other families who are in similar situations.

We understand the burden of being away from home and the discomforts of longterm hospital living. The wagons fold up for easy transport and are filled with a variety of comfort care items and other practical things we believe can be helpful during extended hospital stays.

We currently service the UF Health Shands Hospital pediatric oncology unit and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida with plans to expand to Jacksonville soon. Please contact us if you're interested in receiving a wagon or would like to nominate a patient family to receive one.

Rhet's big sister Raelyn is the heart behind "Rae of Sunshine."

During the countless hospital stays, the bleak walls of those rooms were often decorated with Rae’s masterpiece creations, always bringing us a little bit of sunshine during some of our darkest days. Crafts were also one of the fun ways Rhet and Raelyn would pass the time during long days of being stuck in a bed or infusion chair.

"Rae of Sunshine" craft boxes are included in each wagon and are filled with supplies handpicked by our own little artist.
